Heraty Law has been listed as a Favorite Place on Google, which means that scads of folks have found us through Google thousands of times during the 3rd quarter of 2009.
Google kindly sent us a QR code that you can scan with your camera-enabled mobile phone. Once scanned, it is supposed to take you to our Place Page on Google, where you can find information about our business and delicious coupons, too.
Go ahead, try it:

Now, if you were using the QuickMark iPhone app, which costs $.99/$1.99 and was recommended by Google, you would have scanned that QR code and the Google Place Page link would have appeared.
You would have clicked on that link and it would have brought you to… the W Hotel in midtown Manhattan.
Don’t get me wrong, the W Hotel is a nice place but it’s no Heraty Law.
However, if you were using MobileTag, which is free in the iTunes apps store, you would have scanned that QR code and would have been swiftly delivered into the safe arms of Heraty Law’s Place Page on Google.
At first I was a little annoyed by the Heraty law – W Hotel mixup, but then I thought how fun it might be to incorporate the inaccurate QR code scans into a scavenger hunt of sorts. I scan the QR code for Heraty Law and it tells me to go to the W Hotel. I scan the QR code for the W Hotel and it tells me to go… where? And so on…
Maybe someone can create an app that scans different QR codes as clues to the next location you’re supposed to go to. Maybe it can be a virtual pub crawl or a moveable feast of sorts.
Anyway, thanks for the ups, Google. We love you, too.
